Jeremy takes his role in helping rehabilitate Jean very seriously. He is a very good sportsman far more interested in trying his hardest, fighting a fair fight and improving himself/his team than just keeping their rank or winning at any cost. He laughs easily but takes his role as captain and matches seriously. But Jean? he was worth it.Jeremy is enthusiastic and friendly. Or if they'd have to keep it a secret forever. And sometimes Jeremy wondered if they'd ever move past that carefully managed façade. But even though their love towards each other was a secret, even though no one knew about their devotion and adoration and faith toward each other, it was their secret. It was the best feeling in the world that neither of them was lucky enough to feel whenever they wanted to. It felt like the warm Californian sun and it felt like rain after months of scorching heat and it felt like Jean.

It felt like hot chocolate in a winter break at Scotland. It didn't feel like getting on to a surfboard for the first time. Murmurings words of comfort and permission into each other's lips. So endure another snippet from my Jerejean soulmate AU They kissed for the first time behind the closed doors of a maintenance closet in Penn State University when Jean asked if Jeremy want to kiss him. He should have gotten a clue then how things would go sideways. He even listened to Jean and took Santiago and Daniels with him (two of their largest players) to greet the Ravens' bus as per usual Trojan custom. He foolishly assumed he knew what to expect when it came to these guys. It seemed there was a lot Jean was teaching him about the cruelness of the world outside.) So again, Jeremy thought he’d been prepared. So, he’d had to get creative and basically threaten to bench Jean instead – which he didn’t understand why that drew such a violent reaction from him until he spoke with Kevin about a certain deal that had been made. (The session had ended with Jean simply sneering and telling him the Master would have made him kneel on rice the entire time – which had stunned Jeremy into blurting out “but that’s torture!” Jean had simply shrugged in response. He’d nearly broken Jensen’s rib that one time and Jeremy had spent over an hour explaining to Jean why it was completely unethical and wrong. He’d also had to put a hard stop to the horribly dirty and underhanded checks Jean was so used to. Jeremy still does extra practice with Jean, because he insists, but it’s been good to see the color in his face return slowly, for that permanently furrowed brow to begin to relax from time to time. That they were wasting valuable and precious time in not practicing. It had taken him months to stop insisting on a sixteen-hour schedule. Exy has always been a tough sport, sure – but purposefully violent? Purposefully cruel or demeaning? Exhausting and terrifying and without any joy? It’s nearly unthinkable. Therefore, he can barely imagine someone not seeing Exy the same way.

It is the only way he can imagine playing Exy and strives wholeheartedly to always do so, encouraging his peers to do the same. And he is insanely proud of their tradition of good sportsmanship and integrity. The support and love of his teammates, many of which he knows he’ll keep their friendships throughout his life.

Not only has Jeremy had an opportunity to play with some of the greats, like Waterson and Fleming before they graduated, but he’s had the amazing instruction and guidance of Rhemann. Despite the amazing things Kevin has done with the Foxes, the Trojans are truly unique. There’s no other team on the planet he could have imagined playing for during college.

At one point in high school, Jeremy thought he might want to wear the iconic red and black, but every day he’s thankful he chose the Trojan’s red and gold instead. Check out the fic here, called A True Trojan on AO3.
